My associates are those who work with me, play with me, and strangers that contribute. How to become an associate: Look through the projects. Find one that appeals to you. Tell me what you'd like to do. Do it. Or just hang out for a while. My associates are also people I just plain like. Amir Bakhtiar: Quite possibly the most extraordinary person I've ever met. Amir is an inventor--an artist and creator. He is hard and soft, uber-geek and super-chic. Amir has an unfailing eye, and a huge heart. His project, Divmod, is the ultimate communications tool, and much, much more. He has already achieved greatness, and has only just begun. Ilona Rosson: Great writer and editor. She's also a super mom and her son, Tenzin, is one of my favorite people. Meeghan Truelove: Another great writer and beautiful person. Recently relocated to Greenpoint. Amber Jacobs: To be "Ambered" is to be showered with love and appreciation. That she and her partner Gordon Hon (and my two pseudo-goddaughters Maisie and Beatie) live oh-so-far away in London is a source of distress. Lance Dann: Radio Producer extraordinaire. Check out Radio Reverb. Lance also has served time caring for mad people, and is very good to talk to. He lives in Brighton, England, which is a lovely place to visit, with his newly-qualified-midwife fiance Dawn, but I wish he would spend more time in NYC. Ellen Rand: I couldn't possibly gush enough about Ellen. She has achieved much, and has more energy than anyone I know. But more importantly is the love she freely dispenses. It is a joy to know her. I am unbelievably blessed that she is part of my family. If you're in NYC, check out Art 101. Felicia Garcia Rivera: The *gorgeous* daughter of Ellen, recently released from college, and wandering the world. Felicia is awesomely talented, and a total sweetheart. Alison Cohn: I never stop being impressed by Alison. She does many things, all of them well. I'm so glad she's in New York. If you need a website, check out Semidivine. Chelsea Pennebaker: Teacher, artist, inspiration. When I met Chelsea she immediately welcomed me into her tribe of Orange People, and as the years go on I feel more and more blessed to be included in her life. Recently married (at the most beautiful place on earth) to Ali Hedin the wedding was everything that Chelsea is: crafty, a mixture of the spontaneous and the meticulously staged, filled with music and amazing food. The wedding brought together all the members of all her tribes and we all had a total blast. Tsia Carson: Designer, writer, mother. I want to be Tsia when I grow up. A voice of sanity in a kooky world, Tsia opens her heart and her home and makes great things happen. She is often found entwined with a lovely tall man named Doug. Their long legged daughter is the best. Jennifer Kabat: Aah, Kabat. Writer, maker, seer, doer. Jennifer inspires with her enthusiasm and her attention to detail. Jennifer's homes are filled with small miracles. |
