Cooperation

I dropped a friend at LAX yesterday, and was thinking about the last time I was there. Early early AM, pre-coffee. Waiting on the security line. Someone had abandoned a rolling bag. We all saw it. Nobody said anything to security. I know that I was thinking that if I said anything it would just be a big hassle, and all I wanted to do is get through security. Ultimately, I don’t believe that any of these measures will stop terrorism, or even most terrorist attacks. And the counter-measures have been so irrational and intrusive that the cooperation of the public has been completely lost.

Coming and Going

Back in LA. It seems that NYC always puts on a show when I’m there, bringing the balmy in February and the shops on sale. Good thing I’m on a spending fast. Friends friends friends. Sometimes here in LA I forget that I am much loved. That people get me. That there are others in the world who contemplate plan b and c (aka soup or slave). Plus I learned to ski!

But then I landed here, and it was bright and sunny and so beautiful that I almost couldn’t stand it.

Still, if T finds me a rent-stabilized apt downtown, I’m gone.

Cars

I’m signing up for the Aptera. So freakin’ beautiful, and 300mph. I might have to learn to surf so I can put myself, my guy (hello out there, I have a bucket seat for you!), our sprout (safety first!) up front and behind and two longboards in the boot. If the future isn’t going to bring me my flying car, the Aptera comes awfully close. Enjoy the last 7 years of oil.

Class

Are we the first downwardly mobile generation? I don’t know anyone raised middle-class who is living better than their parents. If we have houses, it is with help from the folks, and the houses are generally smaller and less centrally located. And a second home? Well, there is t&d&c+s, but they are a rare case. And mortgaged to the max.

C is for change, of course

but more on that later. today was alarm clock, taxi, airplane, tram, subway, shuttle, train, car. and a safe landing in the a-frame clinging to the mountain, slip sliding my way in, about to settle into my attic nest. bliss.
