 I'm not a great believer in the broken windows theory. Or rather, I think it makes a difference, but it's no substitute for quality housing, sanitation services, etc. After September 11th, 2001, I started noticing people littering. It seemed like it was more prevalent, more blatent than before. I thought that maybe people thought that there was so much toxic waste around that there just wasn't any point in looking for a trash can. We didn't have much control over the ash, the human and toxic waste that drifted over the city for months. But we can do something about the rest of it. New York's been dumped on enough. Don't litter. I'd like to put that on stickers, or maybe stencils. I'd like to get the message out. Maybe also some friendly little cards that can be handed to folks who dump their trash on the sidewalk. If you're a designer, and you're interested in this project, I can make the printing happen. |
